What's better—classified or display advertising?
If you’re a first time advertiser you’ll need to decide what kind of ad to place. Classifieds are typically used to sell a car, rent an apartment or list a rummage sale. The ads are billed by the number of words used and placed in the appropriate “classification” in the paper. Classifieds are simply typed in, no graphics or pictures are used. We have three papers available, the more papers you select, the greater the discount. The most cost effective rate per number of potential readers is to run in all three papers. You can place your classified online.
Display ads are the best way to advertise a special event, business, sale or to celebrate a special birthday. They are sold by size, not by the word. Our graphic designers will take the information you supply to create a distinctive and effective message. Our designers have received many national awards. There is no extra charge to have us design the ad. You can include pictures or logos.
Because we want to give you the best design service and guidance possible, please contact us to place your display ad.
How do I calculate rates?
Display ads are measured number of columns wide by inches long. Our column is
1 5/8 inches wide (9p6.5 technically speaking). So a 2 column by 2 inch ad would be roughly equal to a business card, and would be billed as 4 column inches (2 columns x 2 inches). Go to the display ad info page to see the rates. 4 column inches falls into the 4-47 column inch rate. The rates are listed for each individual paper and as discounted combination packages. Multiply the rate times 4 column inches to calculate the charge. See the distribution map for circulation information.
